FAQ

Diamonds

About our Diamonds

Lab-grown diamonds are made using advanced technology in a lab mimicking natural conditions. There are two known methods-HPHT which takes natural diamonds as seeds to simulate growth, and CVD which cultivates diamonds by activating carbon-based gases using chemical vapors at specific temperatures and pressures.

The lab-grown diamonds found on EMMY are created using the CVD method. Both natural diamonds and diamonds cultivated by the CVD method are pure carbon crystals, and their crystal structure, physical properties, chemical properties, and optical properties are identical.

Are your diamonds certified?

All lab-grown diamond products are International Gemological Institute (IGI) Certified with cut, color, clarity, carat, and lab-grown identification.

Are your diamonds environmentally safe and ethical?

Lab-grown diamonds are guaranteed to be ethical, conflict-free, and environmentally friendly, as no mining is needed to harvest these diamonds. These are the real deal, without the added ethical, moral, and environmental costs.

FAQ

Moissanite vs Diamonds

Can you tell a moissanite from a diamond?

The most effective way to tell moissanite apart from a diamond is to use a loupe to look through the top, or the crown, of the jewel at an angle. You will see two slightly blurred lines that indicates a double refraction, an inherent quality of moissanite. Double refraction is easier to see in some shapes than others.

What is moissanite?

Moissanite is a rare, naturally occurring mineral also known as silicon carbide, which was first discovered by the Nobel Prize-winning chemist, Dr. Henri Moissan, at the site of a massive meteorite strike in Arizona. This intriguing new stone was named “moissanite” in his honor.

Is moissanite durable?

Moissanite is one of the toughest known gemstones which makes it perfect for an engagement ring, a piece of jewelry that is usually worn every day. Studies in high pressure research have shown that moissanite stone is highly resistant to breaking and chipping.

Is moissanite as good as a diamond?

Moissanite is the only gemstone that passes as a diamond on a handheld point test. If you want a stone that resembles a diamond without a high price, moissanite is a great option. At the end of the day, preference comes down to personal taste.
